How to check the installation of the Air Duct ?
Material Inspection
- Before starting installation, make sure that the materials conform to the technical specifications
Installation work inspection
- Ensure that the duct size is in accordance with the approved engineering drawing
- Duct straightness check.
- Check the distances and levels between the duct and the walls according to the engineering drawing or the coordination .
- Check the duct supports.
- Make sure to use an air seal between the spaces between the duct joints .
- Ensure that the internal insulation is installed for the ducted places that contain internal insulation according to the approved engineering drawing.
- Ensure the correct installation of the external insulation of the ducts.
Duct leakage testing
There are three different methods for a duct test
- Duct smoke test or
- Duct light Test or
- Duct leakage test ( under pressure) A duct leakage tester consists of a calibrated fan for measuring an air flow rate and a pressure sensing device to measure the pressure created by the fan flow. The combination of pressure and fan flow measurements are used to determine the ductwork airtightness.
